‘Hop the Darien-gap’ – for those who react fast
Travelling from Central America to South America or vice versa requires getting past the intransitable Darien Gap. The good thing about travelling on a tall ship is that it’s safe, adventurous and comfy, all at the same time. Did we mention the small carbon footprint of travelling by wind? In addition to that you can easily bring your bicycle or motorcycle. Travelling by ship is also the perfect way to visit the San Blas islands and to meet the Kuna indians that live there. Call the captain of the Regina Maris directly on the following number: +57 305 305 5376 and tell him where you want him to pick you up.
The eight week journey – Caribean – Atlantic – Europe
20 February 2020 – That’s when we will set sail from Cartagena (Colombia) to Jamaica. The theme of this trip is “travel by wind” (travelling with a tiny carbon footprint) and journalism in all its varieties: photography, writing texts, film, making blogs, vlogs, publishing in social media and live-presentations. We travel with an international group. The itinerary is: Cartagena (Colombia) – Port Antonio (Jamaica) – St George’s Town (Bermuda) – Horta, Azores (Portugal) – Brest (France) – IJmuiden (the Netherlands). Part of the group will travel on to the UNFCCC climate conference in Bonn, Germany. There are still places left. This trip is being sponsored, which means that you can apply to participate for only 2500 EUR. Use the contact form if you want to join.
